A first generation family farm is born
Our Philosophy
Our core guiding principles would be founded in holistic health, which we believe is so important every step along the way. From the vast amount of life in our soils, to the diverse species of plants in our forage, to the plethora of nutrients and minerals in the meat grown and harvested here, to our very own health that is so affected by the food we consume. We believe it all matters and it is all one holistic system that requires great care and attention.

Our beef comes from cattle grown right here in Manitoba, seasonally growing on fresh, diverse pastures with a focus on soil and natural animal health. No hormones, no unnecessary antibiotics, just animals growing the way they were intended to. That means every bite is nutrient-rich, full of good fats and minerals, without any of the junk you'd get from larger factory farms. It's clean and flavourful beef. Think about it, it's beef that tastes like real beef! We grain finish our animals when they are nearing readiness. We believe this gives you the ultimate combination of nutrient dense, healthy, happy beef with that gorgeous marbling that only adds to the overall flavour experience. We raise it this way because we want it to be something you're proud to put on your family's table as we are ours.

Our Story
Taiga Farms started as a small homestead in 2014 when the Pauls family bought a retired dairy farm. Matt worked each year towards renovating the old buildings and slowly adding to the farming operation. At some point along the way it transitioned from being a "homestead" to a small family farm. We are primarily a livestock based operation using God's ultimate recycling machine, turning plants into nutrient dense protein for our family as well as yours to enjoy around the table.
Matt has always been drawn to livestock from a young age and the ranch lifestyle. Starting this from scratch at a young age isn't typically financially viable so it took many years for this to come to fruition. When the Pauls family bought the farm in 2014, they started with sheep and goats, which quickly focused on just goats for the first number of years. To this day the farm is still home to about 400-600 goats, depending on time of year. They eventually bought their first steer in 2019 which nurtured a deep love for cattle and the mesmerizing creatures they are. They have also added in batches of pastured poultry from time to time.
At some point the vision clicked. Realizing they weren't the only ones with a passion for feeding their family nutritious food, and knowing most people aren't in a situation where they can raise their own beef, Taiga Farms ventured into bridging that gap. Bringing locally raised, nutritious beef directly to the community surrounding them, giving them access to the same quality product that someone would have living on their own farm.
